YouTube videos on your phone...

Hey all, wanted to post this up... Lifehacker has a great write-up on a service called 'Vixy'. Vixy allows you to submit a URL from YouTube (or any other site using .flv Flash videos), and it will convert that into a video format appropriate for your device, which you can then download.

So for example, I would surf to YouTube on Opera, copy the address of the video, open a second window to Vixy, paste the URL, and then have .3gp or .mp4 or whatever to download.

Addy is http://vixy.net/flv_converter

I haven't tried this personally, so no guarantees, but could be the answer that all you YouTubers have been looking for

maybe I'm crazy, but I just don't see the draw of YouTube. It's poor quality usually, and just little clips, mostly viral stuff like you would see on ebaumsworld or something. I just don't see any content on there that would be useful, at least useful enough to spaz out about it like people do.

For the most part I agree, though there are some funny vids on there that are worth having a good laugh at occasionally (they usually circulate around my work). Plus I use it to post up videos from crazy religious fundy's on my blog, as part of a 'YouTube of the Week' segment. But I don't really surf it more than occasionally, and I don't care enough to put it on my phone (this post was more of a public service announcement since there seems to be more and more questions about YouTube and S60 everyday).

Have you tried browsing YouTube for performances? Stuff like David Bowie and Bing Crosby singing Little Drummer Boy as a duet from a time when they were both on the same record lable?

Man, you guys are harsh! Where else would you go for that clip of Family Guy that made you fall over last night? Do you really want to go through all the motions of downloading the entire episode via a torrent downloader or otherwise just for that one clip? It may not be perfect quality, but I think it's fair for the instant gratification it provides.

Tinytube.net however, is pretty choppy beyond usability.

i dl the highest quality and it works great for me...u cant demand too much out of that little screen compare to real monitors

YT is a co-venture by the Chinese-Nipponese governments to further kill NorthAm productivity, and increase the already disproportionate trade imbalance. LOL.

Not a YT guy either, although it is becoming the go to site for all things footage.
