Youth Group Tax Write off question?

I'm a youth leader and we are looking to buy a vehicle(bus) for the church, we have $1000 to spend but there is no way we can find one for that price. My question is can we a church a non profit group give a tax write off for a vehicle, I've read over the forms, 8283 and a 1098-c that are needed in order to make the switch and have studies some, but other than these form is it doable? So like give the owner the thousand dollars plus a $4000 tax deduction using those stated forms, an I missing anything? please state sources.
