This is inspired by the Top 20 Favorite Movies in the Entertainment Forum. This is Toon Zone after all, so I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone thinks. A lot of the time we see lists that we disagree with but don't state our own. So this is your chance, what are you 10 favorite animated films and why?
10. The Polar Express - Surprise, surprise. This is one of the most underrated animated movies ever, even if it is a newer one. It means a lot to me because it reminded me of the spirit of Christmas when I was beginning to forget it. And people can say what they want about the Motion Capture Animation, but I think that it fit the movie perfectly.
9. Pinocchio - This is the second Disney Movie ever made and to be honest, it's been a while since I've seen it. While it may be ranked higher if I'd seen it more recently, that doesn't take away the fact that it is extremely well-done and really brought a classic story to life. Snow White did too, but I like this one more due the variety of the story and characters.
8. Shrek - The highest ranked Non-Disney movie. It may be the funniest Animated Movie that I have ever seen. I can watch it over and over again and it will still be hilarious. The excellent voice acting also helped make the movie what it was.
7. Nightmare Before Christmas - I have fond memories of this film. I know that sounds a little bit screwed up, but I would watch it all the time when I went to my cousin's house. I loved the overall concept of going into different holiday worlds. And I've always thought that the character designs were great.
6. Finding Nemo - There are some great Pixar movies out there, and while I usually rank older movies higher, this one makes the list. Ellen DeGenerous was a fantastic voice actor and Dory was the funniest part of the movie. But not only the humor was great, it was also a very heartwarming story.
5. Aladdin - You would never know that it was a rather new Disney movie in retrospect due to how highly it is ranked every where. It has one of the best hero-villain combo in any movie in Aladdin and Jafar. The rest of the characters are great too.
4. The Jungle Book - This was one of the first movies I ever watched. I loved it then and I love it now. I used to wander around my house singing "Bare Necessities" to my family and everyone who visited.
3. Peter Pan - This is the, not just animated, but movie in general that inspires me the most. I will never forget the feeling that I got when I rode Peter Pan's Flight in Disneyland for the first time. This movie has a lot of magic in it that makes it great.
2. Alice In Wonderland - I like the movie more than the book. I love the Disney touch that was put into every one of the characters and it made the movie even more entertaining and interesting. The oddity of it is the prime reason I like it so much.
1. Fantasia - Music and Animation are 2 of my favorite things in the world. In this film, both were brilliant and even more-so when they were put together. Each individual short was stunning because of this. Words can't describe it, so they didn't. None of the shorts had dialogue. Seriously, this movie revolutionized what Animation is today and means a lot to cinema in general.
Honorable Mention: The Phantom Tollbooth, Beauty & The Beast, Ratatouille, Monsters Inc, Yellow Submarine, An American Tale
