Your thoughts about a 2000 chrysler concord?

Ive had the car for about a year and a half now. I love my car, but I'm hearing stories about how they have lots of problems........what did I get myself into?
 
Sage advice - only believe about half of what you hear.

If your car is 9 years old, and you haven't had any problems in the year and a half that you've had it, odds are you will never have a major problem (until it's 15 years old with 400,000 miles, etc..... every car wears out eventually)
 
My husband has one that was a hand me down from his dad---he's had it for years with minimal problems. As long as you keep up with maintenance, you should be okay...just keep your eye on it and do what you need to do to keep it running well. He loves his too:) Good luck!

I would never buy one.

espeically it being a 2000 USED. I wouldn't
 
The major problem with the 99-04 Concorde and its cousins LHS,300M, and Intrepid was the 2.7L engine. If you did NOT change the oil every 3,000 miles it built up sludge which caused engine failure between 50,000 to 80,000 miles. If you and your husband have the 3.2L or 3.5L V6 then you'll be okay - JUST maintain it regularly. There are no exceptional "trans"problems except by those who fail to maintain them and abuse them. Other than that, most people enjoy them and it is a steal for a full sized used car becuase it is undervalued even with the better engine. Great interior room and ride. Battery is in an awkward spot (front lower right - you take the right front wheel off to get to it!) and corroded battery cables can cause weird electrical problems. Take care of it and it will serve you well.
 
back in 1999 i got a brand new cgrysler sebring 1999 with 15 miles on it least it for 5 years never had any issues just a couple minor recalls after lease was up i got a new 2006 chrysler sebring with 9 miles on it i still have it today with no problems i take great car of my cars just treat them good and dont dawg them it wont last as long as a nissan or toyota but they are very nice cars
 
Like some others said, its a Chrysler. Be happy that you haven't had and major problems yet. Sell it while its still good and get another car.

If you do decide to keep it, make sure all the recalls have been taken care of and be extra vigilant with maintenance.
 
They tend to have a lot of issues with the transmission when they get to around 100,000 miles. I'm not a big fan of Chrysler's, but that's not to say that they're bad necessarily. They just tend to have some reliability issues. Not all of them, just a good bit of them.
