Your Opinion - Metal Black E50

I have the option of getting a Metal Black E50. Can anyone comment on what they think of this version of the E50, whether it will look cheap or sharp for a business-level phone, and whether I should get it or not?

Thanks

HOT HOT HOT.... oh did I say HOT. I have the white E50 and I am on the prowl for that damned Metal Black housing that I can't find. I think that patience is the key here. lol

2MP camera has to be a typo. It's probably a 1.3 just like every other E50.

As far as Europeans having such a great deal on phone subsidies, I think they make up for it in their rate plans. The same t-mobile plan I have here would be over double what I pay in O2's rates.

I agree too, it's a slick looking device. I know some folks have argued that it would look cheap, but I think it's simple classy smartphone that packs a lot of power. I am buying it in Europe at Freddytel.de. Got a reasonable deal on it too, its 239.90 Euros, around $315. Also, I can confirm its a 1.3Mp camera. Will take live pictures and post them once I have it. I hope it comes with a firmware update.

Definitley a typo. There is no difference in the "metal black" E50 no new hardware and even no new firmware either. The phone is defintely good looking and no question works for business image. Its not tackly looking at all.

But inevitably you will be able to simply re-face any E50 with the same covers, so dont overpay for it. Of course if it is your company's shareholders' money paying for the phone, I doubt that will be a primary concern for you.

I'd be suprised if 02 can get if for you this month. I put in requests with a couple top phone sellers and they said the phone was not available in UK until next year.

As for the phone rates, Europeans do not pay to recieve calls ie any call plan here effectively included "unlimited minutes" on incoming call, even people on PayAsYouGo/Prepaid have this.

Nor do we have all the barriers that American network operators errected for SMS/text messages, so people do use it intelligently and a lot.

Let's put it this way; I have had a 200 minute call plan for the past two years and exceeded it exaclty once. Huge contrast to the plans I needed and pid a lot of money for in the US on T-mobile, Verizon and AT&T as it was caled then.

It is wicked to see all the phones there and how much more advanced they are compared to here in North America. Plans here in canada and america just plain suck and so does pay as you go, they really dont care about us, the consumers. In Europe and Asia, they beg consumers and persuade them to use their services. All phones there, are free on a 1 year contract, and all incoming is free, it is per second, there are no system access fees, you dont pay for caller id or voice mail. It is a huge ripoff here, you have to pay for a phone on a 3 year contract, it is madness. Dont mean to lash out, but it bothers me alot. Also minutes there, if for example you have 500 per month, and you only use 300 of those 500 that month, the left over minutes carry on to the next month, so the 200 left over are added to the 500. I cant see why cant the North America companies cant do the same.

Freddytel.de is fast and very responsive, but they only send to addresses in Germany (maybe Europe). If you know someone in Europe, I highly recommend them though. I should have my Metal Black in the next week or so.

No - they ship almost anywhere if you pay by bank transfer. 20 Euro to ship to UK, takes 3-5 days their cust service told me. Definitely will ship anyhwere in EU but I think US may cost a bit more to ship.

But they take Paypal from German users only. So you have to pay with bank transfer otherwise.

I dont know why, but seems they wont even take credit card.
