Your job pays you in cash. You need legal proof for your lawyer. Your

employer will not help. What do you do? A friend is filing for Bankruptcy. The form she has to fill out for her lawyer asks for proof of income over the last six months.The problem is that she gets paid in cash and her employer has said that he cannot help her with a copy of his official records. How does she prove her cash income?
ps If the answer involves an accountant, how does that work and about how much does it cost?

It sounds as if your friend's employer is paying her in cash "under the table" so that the employer will not have to pay taxes, SSDI, unemployment, etc., on the employee's wages. Because the employer wants no record of paying the employee, it will probably be very difficult to get any proof of her employment/salary. This is an illegal practice, and I'm sure the Internal Revenue Service (among many other agencies) would be very interested. However, if your friend reports this, it is very likely that she would lose her job. At this point, her best bet would be to discuss the situation with the attorney who is handling her bankruptcy.
