Your Favourite Main Credit Sequences

Star wars. The scrolling intro on all of them gets me every time but Episode IV was the best

Alien
Once Upon a Time in the West
Raiders of the lost ark

Se7en
Passenger 57
Mission Impossible- The first one, because it tried to recreate the opening credits of the tv show.
Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Blues Brothers
Lethal Weapon 3- not the best of the bunch, but the film opens as if it's halfway through another Lethal Weapon film, right in the middle of an action scene.

Yes, Superman was great.

Star Wars was also great, the opening note of John Williams' score was also great. Even the 20th Century Fox with the "LucasFilm" logo at the end, just feels better for Star Wars than any other film. I think Episode 1: The Phantom Menace was the best for me, cause I was so glad that wasn't altered.

Rocky was also a good opening sequence, simple and effective (and very original).

Might be a strange choice but The Breakfast Club is a favourite opening sequence of mine also. Good use of the Simple MinRAB opening, and its just a cool (if dated) begining, with the David Bowie quote.

I quite like the James Bond series opening sequences, especially the John Barry - Maurice Binder collaborations. I also like the Star Wars and Superman opening titles that others have mentioned.

The Ninth Gate
Candyman
The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover
Omen II

The first three because I like long tracking shots. The Omen one because I like the story it tells of the daggers being found, stolen, auctioned, researched etc.

Apparently Lord of War's opening is good, but I haven't seen it.

I like ones where there's no actual credits - The Matrix, Star Wars, that kind of thing. Credits just seem to ruin the start for me a little, makes it more difficult to get into.

Although Mission: Impossible 1 and 3 I liked, because it was like the TV show, as someone's mentioned.

I really love the opening titles to napoleon dynamite, with all the odd artifacts making up the titles and such...

Good Topic!

Thanks Kate.

What did you think of the rest of the film? I thought it was cool and laid back. A film that l could watch over and over again!

Have you seen 'Ghost World'? It's so similar to 'Napoleon Dynamite' but there's more of a story to it!
