Totally agree with that. I could give a long list of South Korean films alone.

Anyway... I can't pick a favourite because I love all of these.

South Korea: Tae Guk Gi (Brotherhood Of War), Joint Security Area, Sympathy For Mr Vengeance, Memories Of Murder, Shiri, The Good, The Bad, The Weird... and many more.

Hong Kong: Hardboiled, Bullet In The Head, The Killer, Infernal Affairs

China: Red Cliff 1&2, Raise The Red Lantern, The Warrior, Ip Man, House Of Flying Daggers

Japan: Battle Royale, Akira, Ghost In The Shell, Perfect Blue (ok the last 3 are anime but deserve a mention).

Thailand: Ong-Bak, Bang-rajan

South Africa: District 9

France: Brotherhood Of The Wolf, 36, Amelie, Mesrine

Germany: The Downfall, Das Boot, Sophie Scholl

Sweden: Let The Right One In, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
