i was at work when a woman noticed a young sparrow on the street. worried someone may step on it, my manager tried to go out and move it. the bird is hardly able to fly, but did some crooked flitting a flopping until it landed under a car tire (great)
having done this before, i insisted to go get the bird myself. i used my scarf and a cardboard box.
the bird stayed in the box for hours. but now i'm finally home and got a look at it.
it can kick, and barely flap it's wings. but i think it may have injured it's neck. it's head stays to one side, and it will not change it's body position or turn its head.
he has definitely lost energy, as he's not making an effort to get away from me when i changed the lining in the box.
so he's covered, and warm. i have tiniest bits of cat food softened with water in there too (that's what the vet's office said to do)
every wildlife service and center i've called is closed. they will not be open, or even get back to me until the next business day (which is 3 days from now?!)
i have a feeling this bird will not make it until monday, but what can i do in the meantime? even my local vet wont have the avian doctor in until monday. i'm so depressed about this poor bird
