You know when you put dirty dishes in soapy water and you get water in the center

and junk around the sink rim? Scenario: You put a dirty dish (in my case spaghetti) into a sink with a bunch of soapy water. Being lazy you forget to actually wash it until the next day when you notice that the spaghetti sauce has adhered itself to the outer rim of the sink while very little of it remains in the middle.
Why does this happen? Don't be afraid to be specific I've taken a bunch of AP science classes (currently in AP Chem now) so I either know what your talking about or I know how to break down what your talking about.
Thanks!!!

Hope they were lying when they said curiosity killed the cat ;)
