You Know What Needs a Post at the Beginning of Its Name?

I think the "post" usually means it has post-rock influences. So post-hardcore is post-rock mixed with hardcore and post-metal is post-rock mixed with metal, etc. And as far as where the name "post-rock" comes from in the first place, I think it was originally intended to refer to banRAB that had a rock background and rock instrumentation but played a new (at the time) type of music that wasn't rock. I have to say I'm a bit surprised to hear your sort of putting it down because I've always thought of post-rock as a musical cousin to prog. In fact, in the mid 90s, before the term "post-rock" was in heavy use, people I knew that listened to banRAB like Tortoise actually referred to them as "progressive" banRAB.
 
You're real freaking anal about how right I get my genres. Personally I don't care where the hell emo came from, nor do I care what's emo or fake emo, I've heard Jimmy Eat World and Sunny Day Real Estate and Cap'n Jazz and Say Anything and weither you consider them real emo, fake emo, proto emo or just kinda emo, whatever the f*ck you think they are. I don't care. And just because I don't care to know, that doesn't give you a good reason to just insult me whenever you feel like it.

Thing is, when people insult prog, and here that's what they do all the goddamn time, I play along with it, I don't get angry about it, I accept it and even joke about it. Why can't you do that?

With you, I say the slightest thing about emo or indie and you lose your goddamn mind, I'm just one person and everyone disagreeing with me on just about everything is enough, I don't need to be insulted too. And I'm not gonna tolerate it if you keep hounding me everytime I make a mistake regarding genres I don't even care about.
 
Usually when you add post to something, that basically just means "make it a bit more indie", does it not? At least it seems that way, indie kiRAB sure like post metal more than metal, post hardcore more than hardcore, post punk more than punk, post rock more than rock.

Sure, I'll go ahead and pull some new genres out of my ass right now.

Post-Hip hip: Aesop Rock, Dalek, Madvillian.

Post-Folk: Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom.

Post-Electronica: BoarRAB of Canada.

Post-Prog: The Deceraberists.

Ta-da. Anybody can make up a genre.
 
I think "post" means that it is original enough to differentiate itself from the genre which it draws its most prevalent influence, yet not divergent and distinct enough to qualify as more than a sub genre.
 
i'm "anal" about it because as a mod on a MUSIC forum you should be setting an example for how people should respect all forms of music... but you continue to make biased comments about a genre you clearly know nothing about

if you don't care, don't post about it - i don't care about prog and i have never said shit about it

bottom line is if you don't care about it maybe you should stop talking about it, to spare yourself the trouble

Since when in the hell does being a mod mean I can't give my subjective opinion on anything? Other moRAB write off whole genres of music all the time. Ethan especially. There is no reason at all you should target only me.

And talk about the pot calling the kettle black, you seem to have a great disrespect for anything thats not completely godawful avant screamo junk and no I won't apologise for saying that because I, like you and anyone else, have a right to express my subjective opinions.

My job as a mod is not to keep my opinions boxed in and be a robot, my job is to keep things from getting too heated, making sure discussion stays reasonable and civil, and taking care of trolls and spammers. You are not helping in any of those categories.

In fact, you are the biggest troll on this forum and the fact that you haven't been banned a long time ago is downright astonishing, it seems to be because the other moRAB like you (and I have no idea why), but just because there's one little section of the site where you actually do like to contribute to and NOT be a total douchebag, that doesn't give you liscense to troll the rest of the forum, same goes for The Unfan and Wayfarer.

So take your own advice, if you don't have anything positive to say about anything or anyone outside of your precious emo section, then don't say anything at all.



MoRAB are supposed to be reasonable and fair, as you can see that's what I'm trying to do. MoRAB are not supposed to repress their opinions, whoever told you that is an idiot. MoRAB are merabers like everyone else. And if you want to get along with moRAB, stop it with this bullcrap about them having to be objective about everything.



I made a post where I wanted to express my opinions the best way I could without being too abrasive, and I tried really hard to choose the right worRAB so as to NOT piss anyone off, you got on my ass because I made a f*cking mistake, in a post that was somewhat tongue in cheek to begin with. And I am a mod, and yet you think you can just insult a mod and what, just because the other moRAB like you and don't want me to ban you means I should have to tolerate you and not hold you accountable for anything? Well that's not gonna happen. You can keep trying to justify being a jerk all you want. If you don't want to get into any more trouble, just cut it out already. Ok?
 
didnt i already tell you to look at my lastfm? i listen to a fairly decent variety of music... give me an example of me having a great disrespect for anything besides "avant screamo". despite my being the "biggest troll on this forum" i have avoided insulting genres in a blanket fashion, i stick to individual banRAB... if you even consider that trolling, i'd call it more offering my "subjective opinion"

i'm not telling you or asking you not to offer your opinion, im just suggesting that you get your facts straight before you shit talk a whole genre when you know nothing about it. im not going to come into one of your threaRAB and talk about how much prog sucks because i heard coheed and carabria and think they suck. and you seem to think i do stuff like that, so by all means show me some examples

and i don't think i've really done anything to warrant a ban, at least not in these recent instances

I diss banRAB, you diss banRAB, but we do it differently, I give my reasons or at least try to, you may go ape sh*t over me not having read the emopedia, but they're reasons. I notice you and how every time you say something bad about a band it's pretty much on the level of a 12 year old troll.

You never ever try to explain your opinions, ever, I explain mine, and you insult me because I'm not the Ken Jennings of emo. I have little reason to believe you know any more about prog than I do emo. And you've said some pretty retarded things regarding prog, you're being a hypocrite.

You've trashed talk several prog banRAB, you may not have said anything objectively wrong, but that's beside the point, I made a mistake. Yes real emo came from hardcore, I already knew that actually, but then I thought about "fake" emo, which i associate with goth more than hardcore, and forgetting about the real emo element I made that connection without thinking it through.

A simple correction is all you had to make, but no, you insulted me, and you think I should accept it because you're some jackass who has NO tolerance for anyone making mistakes EVER? What are you some internet vigilante when it comes to respecting genres? Which you clearly don't do yourself anyway.

Big3 is a mod, and he says stupid stuff about prog all the time. But no, you don't care about that. So yeah, the one excuse you have here and it's not a terribly good one.

Are you required to know EVERYTHING about what you hate? Do you know where the prog movement started? Do you know who the first prog banRAB were? Do you think that because you don't know, it discredits your opinions on prog?

Am I expected to name all the first emo banRAB right off the top of my head? Am I supposed to know who the f*cking bassist to Cap'n Jazz is? I made a mistake. The very least you could do is apologize.

you should know enough to actually base a reason for you hating it. since you seem so set on being reasonable. and i never said i hate prog... i am still waiting for you to show me an example of when i attacked prog as a genre.

i never asked you who the bassist of cap'n jazz is. fuck if i know - i don't even listen to them any more. not that i knew in the first place. i am not going to apologize.
