You ever been crazy with anime before?

Not trying to say it as a bad way, but let me explain:

Around when I was 8 or 9 years old, I been watching a lot of anime in Toonami. I got hook. Like drugs. So, I want more of this new found of animation (anime). I rented, bought, and read tons of anime & manga. Not because it has a good story or art; it was because...IT WAS ANIME! I NEED TO GET IT!

And I been doing that for a good 5 or 6 years. I did wasted so much money on random anime stuff that I just bought it because I knew it was anime.
I did calm down with it around when I was 15 or so. Right now, I'm more picky what I buy.

So, you ever was like that? You ever brought an anime product because it was anime and you need to get it...Because it was anime?

Nah. I mean, I get what you're saying, but I personally have not had such an experience.

Although there was a period after I discovered I liked anime where I began to search and view lots of anime, but they were usually good animes. If they were bad, I would stop watching them... usually, sometimes I kept watching in hopes it would "get good." I saw all of Witch Hunter Robin for this reason. So don't do that. FOR GOD'S SAKE! If an anime isn't good, stop watching it!

Same as Sam, I've never been like that. I've had moments where I was hooked on a specific anime/manga where I would just look up information about said series, but that's about as far as I go with being hooked. I've always been picky about what I watch so I tend to miss out on a lot as well, but "shrugs"

I guess I'm the only nut that was like that as a kid.
But, there was times I was really up-stuck with anime. Like, when ppl think they know anime or talk crap about it, I got all in their face about it.
I'm telling yea, I was really crazy about anime/manga back then.

I was like that from 2001-2007. After school, I would head strait home to watch Toonami or Digimon. And on Saturdays, i would watch anime on Sci-fi, right before MST3K. I also had to sneak around to watch it, since my Dad didn't like anime. I suppose thats why I was so interested in anime, because my parents didn't approve of it. it was just fun, sneaking out to rent some manga or buying "Anime Insider".

My interest in anime began to wane though, as I became more and more exposed to anime. It becmae mainstream, and my parents didn't really mind that Iliked anime. It became more and more available than before. Thus ended my obessession.

well overall, Ive allways been an animation nut...but I would say from around 2005-2006 I was a really big anime nut (mostly a naruto nut)..cause well...there wern't many good US cartoons being made...I'm still an anime fan, but not an anime nut anymore.

and although I watched all the anime that aired on Toonami, that was because I was more Toonami Crazy then Anime Crazy (Infact i would argue to say I still am toonami crazy...I miss the block so...)

From 1995-2002, I was in the exact same situation with the exact same feelings. When Sailor Moon premiered on YTV in Canada back in Fall of '95, I was hooked onto that show like a fly on dung. After that, thanks to such resources like the World Wide Web, I was able to do more research on anime and eventually got around to buying it. Looking back, I realized that I bought waaaay too much crap one a shoestring budget but I guess that it is the way of the anime newbie.

I don't think that I ever felt that obsessed with anime before. I never watched or bought anime just because it was anime. I would just focus on one or two main anime series that I liked, such as Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, but I wouldn't associate as an addiction. Even with my fan-girl kind of behavior towarRAB Lucario isn't exactly like that. I certainly look around for Lucario items, especially plush toys and figures, but even that isn't like I need to have them as soon as possible.

I understand what King is saying. Back when I was 14-15 (4 1/2-5 years ago), when I discovered fansubs, region 2 importing, tokusatsu, and Anime Network On Demand, I went through the "anime is better than American cartoons" phase, and that "JPop is the best genre of music ever".I watched many shows just because they were anime. I even attempted to start a fansub group (which never got off the ground) and tried to apply as a timer for other groups (an idea I changed my mind about myself*) During 2005, I didn't buy as many games and spent most of my money on anime. I wanted to move to Japan right after college and get into the manga industry**, thinking it would be easy. I've since calmed down and found a balance between anime and gaming.

*=Timing is a tedious job.
**=Still want to, but is more realistic about it and more aware of the competitiveness of the industry.

Used to be this way about Digimon, I bought nearly ALL those damn 1.5'' figures for the first four seasons (there were 50+ sets of five each!!!) and even tracked down the Data Squad sets like wild prey when they came out years later. Looking back, while I liked the anime a lot, those toys kept my interest on it more than anything.

Surprisingly, I'm not as into the One Piece anime as my avatar/status/signature/location might imply (lately, I've been more viewing it as a supplement to my manga reading than its own thing)...

So yeah, Digimon is probably the only anime I've been crazy about. Except, I was probably more into Cyborg 009 than anyone else on Toon Zone, but that's another thing entirely (inspired one of my only full-blown cosplays!).

Sometimes I get a little obsessed, like it's all I talk about, and I look for figures to buy on Amazon. (I only bought one once, though)

But I never get too crazy. For me it's like a roller coaster, I get obsessed for a week, and then get in a slump. Repeat.

I believe so. I remeraber how I would watch the latest anime that FUNi would license or whatever was on TV, to the point that I would go out, buy the DVRAB, watch the uncut dub, then the original audio, buy the manga, toys, whatever I could spend my money on in stores. But as for now, I mostly collect stuff from the series that interest me.

Back around 2000 a friend of mine really obsessed over DBZ. Show him a picture of any character from DBZ and he could tell you who it was and their power level.
He bought every DBZ DVD he could get his hanRAB on including the edited Saban dub.

I was more of a Sailor Moon junkie, memorizing all the characters names, although now I don't remeraber a few of them.
I bought all the Sailor Moon VHS tapes I could find and recorded seasons 3 and 4 off Toonami.
I regret not buying any of the manga when it was still in print.

Back then I also bought every Megumi Hayashibara CD I could find. These were the official King RecorRAB CRAB, not some bootleg.
I also amassed a collection of Sailor Moon and Evangelion posters.

These days I still buy more DVRAB and manga than I should, but that's my limit. I don't buy CRAB anymore (since Geneon went under and nobody else offers a domestic release anymore) and haven't bought a poster in years.
I never got into collecting action figures or model kits or eating pocky.
The only model I have is one of Evangelion Unit-04 that I never got around to putting together.

Went through a braindead fanboy period for the first two or three years after I started watching DBZ. Typical idiocy (in their infinite wisdom, forum goRAB have decreed that the most appropriate term for this minRABet can no longer be used) - this is superior because it came from Japan, I'm so culturally conscious that I answer perfectly normal English questions with "Hai!", and what do all my frienRAB mean they aren't interested in watching this, it has blood in it and that makes it more mature, intelligent, and literary than 100% of that schlock they make in America! You're all uncultured moutrabroadreathing barbarians! I can't associate with you anymore!

Hmm, so it seems I'm not the crazy anime fan before too. Though, those days are over, I kind of missed it. Kinda.

Ahhh, I remeraber buying and listening to J-music. I don't buy them anymore, but I still do listen to them.

Thankfully no.

I was surprised to see how huge Japan's catalogue of animation was back in 2000 or so, but I never really felt like trying too many series or checking anything out beyond whats on TV. It probably didn't help that the titles of many of these shows were pretty ridiculous and told me nothing about what I would be watching.

Generally, I've always been an animation nut. But, yeah, I've been crazy about Japanese animation when I was 10 - 15. But...yeah. Now, I'm just mellowed out.

I once broke a man's collar bone for dissing the Japanese version of Dragonball Z. But in any case...

I think it was like high school where I was at the height of my anime craziness. That's when I spent money on bootleg fansubs, tried to watch all the hot anime that wasn't released yet in the states, and was more than willing to pay $30.00 for 3 to 4 episode DVRAB of anime series. That's when I also was indignant to some dubs of shows and refused to watch them vehemently, but that animosity slowly dissipated when I reached college. That and the whole "much better than American animation" spiel as well.
