Year 8s, what do you know about medieval times/history?

I'm writing a faux lesson plan for a year 9 Medieval History class. I'm supposed to think about assumed knowledge. All I'm assuming currently is that they'll know that medieval times is the times where there were knights, and that people lived differently in the past. I'm assuming that low because I do know some 14 year olds who don't understand even basic historical concepts.

But what do YOU know, so that I can get a better picture? Be honest please!
