-thank you

Hi-
I too have just been put on Yasmine due to a lower dose of hormones so my acne helps clear up. I also was put on this vs. orthotricycline to help with headaches I've been having. So far, I haven't noticed a difference. I've only been on it for about a month now. To be honest, my acne has actually gotten alittle worse since I have changed birth control pills. I think that is only due to the change though. I am trying to stay positive and hoping that after a couple pill packs that my hormones will even out a bit. My doctor also just recently put me on Tetracycline to help with my acne. I have only been taking it for a couple days now but so far my acne seems to be healing alittle faster. You may want to ask your doctor to do the same thing for you if this doesn't help for you. Main thing, try and stay possitive. Their are a lot of other alternatives out there...you just have to try different options. I try to stay positive myself. My type of acne is the type where I get very large under the skin cyst like things. First I tried a prescribed cream for in the morning and another one for at night. That didn't help. Then I switched pills...still no success. Finally I opted to try this tetracycline. Lets hope it helps!!

Thank you for your reply. My skin is doing better than last week...i've only been on yasmin for almost 3 weeks so i don't really see any change- i think that i need to give it a little bit longer to work. Thanks for the other suggestions about the tetracyclin...i'm actually applying 2 creams on my face also. Differin at night and duac in the morning- it is making my skin very dry but it is getting smoother. i also have a lot of scarring that i hope will start to fade but who can tell anymore. i'm really trying to stay positive but it is so hard when i look in the mirror in the morning. anyways i just wanted to thank you for your post- i really appreciate it. i hope that everything is going well n keep your success (or not....knock on wood) posted n i'll try 2 do the same.
-thanks, ordinary

I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for 10 years before switching (because of breakthrough bleeding in the last couple of them) over to Yasmin last Septeraber. My acne has cleared up considerably and I'm not having any more breakouts except during my time. However, watch out for the anxiety on Yasmin its a definite downside.

thank you for responding to my post i really appreciate it. i must admit that i am feeling very discouraged with yasmin. i'm almost done with my second month of pills and i really don't see an improvement. How long did it take for you to see results??.....the only thing i DO notice is weight gain. did you experience any weight gain or loss with it?? it really bothers me becuz i feel like i'm gaining weight cuz of the pill but it's not even helping my skin. and it's weird that you mention anxiety becuz lately i feel very stressed out ....(although it might be cuz i actually am stressed out) but who knows anymore. the days just keep on getting better and better.....NOT! but i'm not here to tell you about all my problems i just wanted to thank you. i'm glad that you have had some success w/ yasmin it does make me feel a little better.

thanks again

I've been on yasmin for a little over a year, and i think it's helped me considerably. It has controlled my oil as well as my cysts. I still have the occassional break out, especially if i am stressed out. For those, I will dab on a little tea tree oil.

I used to take Ortho-tri cyclen and that only helped me for a little while but did nothing for my acne compared to yamin.

Give it some time and if you don't notice anything, maybe you could inquire about spironolactone.
