Yamaha Receiver w/out HDMI work with new HDTV?

I have an old Yamaha Receiver 5.1 surround from the mid 90s, and I need to know if a new HDTV will work with it. The model I have is an RX-V1050rs. I need to know if I need a new receiver, or if there's a gizmo I can buy to make it all work the way it is. Right now our TV is the type of monsters (cathode ray?).
 
Great answer below but I have to add something most people forget. In order to have surround sound, you have to get the signal back to the receiver from the tv.

Run the a/v cable, just red and white connected, yellow not needed, from the audio output of the tv back to the audio input of the receiver. That will give you surround sound on all your devices when you choose the correct function on the receiver.
