i just got a used yamaha dt50, it starts up, altho not so easly, usually requires a running start and flippng the clutch, the kick start only seems to work well when the engine is hot. but thats not what im going to ask about.
What my problem is i can start the bike, get going for a bit, then it sounds like the engine just dies, it looses all power for a few seconds, then after a few seconds of going without the engine it kick back into life. or if im going at a slower speed, it just stalls.
i can usually ride for a bit before this happens, i was testing it out going down a busy street, for the first 5 mins it was okay, then i was in 3rd gear and the engine bogs down, seems to die, i switched back into second and it started up again, it also happened when it was idling at a red light, the engine was running okay but when i pulled on the throttle a bit the RPMs dropped, and when i let go of the throttle the engine had higher rpms, so then not giving it any throttle it just died. causing me to have to roll start it when the light turned green
happened multiple times
also when its idling this problem seems to happen too, the engine will just die.
im still somewhat new to motocrycles and i have owned a pocket bike in the past that seemed to have the same problem.
is this a simple fix? like adjusting the carb? or should i take the carb off and clean it out? possilby? or could it be an electrical problem?
