Yahoo Messenger 2.0 Issues

To many this may seem like an old issue but I have scanned the posts and cannot get anything to work for me.

Keep getting a uncaught java exception error after upgrading to 2.0. Messenger dissapeared but it is still in applications. How do I get it back?

In Modules the net rim yahoo 1.095 still appears and I was told to get rid of that in modules and it would be solved but it will only let me edit permissions and view properties...

I am with T-Mobile and have the Curve 8320.

Thanks for any help that you may give me!

Michael

Hey Jonny! Are you using 2.0? I deleted everything that was with Y Messenger and downloaded it again but no luck. Do you have any other suggestions? As always, thanks for your help!

Yes I'm using 2.0. Evey since I got the curve I deleted all clients but aim and yahoo messenger. When I saw 2.0 I deleted the version that came on the device and then downloaded the 2.0 and haven't had a problem since except for when I use the dm to load new programs it downgrades my y messenger and I have to use the ota link again. Are you getting it from mobile.blackberry.com

Yes I am getting it from mobile.blackberry.com. I did not delete the old version first. I downloaded the 2.0 directly over the old version. Do you know how to get rid of old modules? I looked in the help site on Blackberry and it said to highlight the one you want to remove, hit the menu and then delete will come up. But I don't get the option to delete it, just edit permissions and view properties. Have I made a big mess out of this?>?

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~sometimes its not good to download over programs. But if you go to options then advanced options then applications. Then yahoo messenger. Press menu then moduls. You can then delete it from there. Try that

Okay. I went back to my phone and took a look at ity. When you go to applicatins. Highlight yahoo messenger and then you can either press your menu button then delete (don't push the trackball in. You have to hit the menu). But to totally delete everything from that program out go to yahoo messenger press menu once its highlighted and go to modules. There will be a list of every module for every piece of software and every application you have on your device. Scroll down to
Net_rim_bb_qm_yahoo_resource_en and press menu delete. And the scroll back through everything and highlight net_rim_bb_qm_yahoo. Press menu delete.

If none of that works. The only other thing I can even possibly think off is a backup a wipe and a reinstall of the OS. ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

I don't mean to hijack this thread but it seems close enough to my problem and I could not find another while searching....

I started using Yahoo messenger that came with my 8320 from T-mobile (did not have to download anything). I always leave myself signed on and so does my finace on her 8320. The past few days it shows that she is offline from my phone while she shows herself online on her own phone and vice versa.

Any suggestions on what could be going on? Can I leave myself sign on all the time as I've been doing?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem (couldn't delete the Yahoo! version 1 modules, no matter what I did). I was thinking loading version 1.0 and then removing it would work, but my 8320 came preloaded (T-Mobile) and I couldn't find a download link. Just when I was about to wipe the device, I downloaded the latest version of desktop manager from T-Mobile and it found the problem modules with the application loader and removed them. What a waste of a day...

I had that same problem on my pearl. I'm signed on but it says sign off. But once I receive a message I show online again. I guess it ay be good to sign off and then sign on again every so often.

Thanks, I'll give that a try (signing off and then on once in a while) and see if it works. I'll also try and send a message while it still says the contact is signed off to see if they receive it.

Thanks for your input.

I did a complete device wipe including third party applications. When it booted back up, uncaught exception error popped right back up. I went back to modules and all the old modules including the ones from all the programs I had just wiped were still intact, including the old yahoo ones. I downloaded the most current desktop manager from the T Mobile website and everything. Absolutely nothing works. Could it be the device itself?? Now I have to spend hours re downloading the programs etc, I have wasted hours of my life dealing with this!!! Frustration beyond belief! Any ideas?

Hi,

I just got my curve 8320 and same as others, I am having trouble re-installing y messenger. I have been to forums to research this problem but as anywhere, it is always go to modules and delete. BUT what if there is no delete option on the menu and I have a new version of the software w/c is 4.2.2. Why would you guys have delete option on the menu once the module is highlighted and some of us don't. Sorry, for this long message. Frustration for fixing this problem for 2 or 3 days have been getting to me.

I'm not to sure why everyone is having a hard time with this. I've seen a few issues but not that many. Most of the time if you download over the original yahoo messenger it works. Point your wap browser to mobile.blackberry.com and go to yahoo messenger 2.0 there is another really new vesion on there. Give it a shot a tell me if you're having any better luck. ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~
