YAHOO CHAT WILL NOT WORK?

so i recently restored my computer to factory settings. I downloaded the new explorer 8. I downloaded the newest yahoo browser. And now when i get on my yahoo mail i don't have the option to sign into chat. when i go to my contacts and try to chat the chat option by my name pops up and i select visible, but nothing happens. i cant even see any of my contacts online. any suggestions or experience please. thank you
