Xtians: would you vote for a politician who refuses to publicly discuss his religion?

If he claimed he was Xtian but that is beliefs were personal and not open to discussion.

Would you accept his word at face value or assume that he was lying about being Xtian?

Thanks in advance.

I don't vote based on religion, because you can never tell when they are lying about it. People thump Bibles all the time when they are trying to get in office.

Well...John Q. Public does have the right to know what religion (If any) a person of that esteem, or qualifications, is. I mean if a person is going to make decisions (U know what I mean) to benefit me, I should at-least know if he's Religious or not.

No, because if he cannot publicly discuss such a topic as religion then why would I trust him with anything else?

I would probably vote for him because in this day and age politicians have to watch what they say so they do not anger the majority of people. MAJORITY = CHRISTIANS

FACT: the highest level of power a US politician who was atheist ever held was a state representative. and it only happened once...

The personal details of a president's faith ain't nobody's beeswax.

I'd vote for a person who claimed to be Christian, but didn't parade his faith around like some recent presidents, in order to woo the religious radical right into voting for him.

I'd vote for a Muslim, atheist, Pagan, Wiccan, and Buddhist too, if he was right on the issues.

I don't need a Christian to vote for president but there are certain topics/positions that are non - negotiable for me. One is abortion (anti-abortion) and the value of life (anti-euthanasia). I would like one that is vehemently anti-war without being weak and thereby inviting bullying by other governments. The rest is open for consideration.

What are his positions on the issues? I always vote the issues. That's why I supported Alan Keyes in the last election. Of course, Keyes isn't exactly shy about sharing his faith. But I honestly think he would have brought more fiscal responsibility to our government.

McCain/Palin was not an option.

I would rather vote for a politician who didn't identify his/her religion. I'm not voting for a pastor, and I don't care what their religion is. I want to know their stand on the issues.
