I cant choose between the desire and the xperia x10. The Xperia has a way bigger screen and the best smartphone camera, but the Desire (I think that it looks ugly) has android 2.1 and better hardware like multi touch and the Sense interface which is way better than the timescape/mediascape interface from sony. But the screen from the desire is so small! Please Help me! (I live in Europe and we dont have the evo 4g if we had that one I will go straight to the mobile phone shop and buy him.)

Yep - Samsung Galaxy S. I've played with the Desire and Samsung Galaxy S today in a store for about 10 minutes, side by side. The SGS is soooooooo nice to use.

I gave up on the Xperia X10 about 3 months ago. It sounded great when it was announced, but then took 6 months too long to come out. By then, most other Android phones had topped it in all aspects other than screen size. The Xperia X10 is slower because of its custom UI being slow, I personally didn't like the Mediascape thing, and it's stuck on Android 1.6, which by the way means the screen can only use 65,000 colours of the 16M available. It also has less memory than the Desire and SGS. To be honest, I think the Xperia X10 was outdated about 6 months before it was released because it just took so long to come out.

Sure the camera is probably good though. While the Desire is also 8MP the HTC cameras are pretty crap compared to the Sony ones.

I'd seriously look at the Samsung Galaxy S, it has the best screen on any mobile phone anywhere in the world, end of story, and it's the same size as the X10.

Sense UI is nicer than Mediascape, and nicer than Android 1.6 standard UI.

TouchWiz on the Samsung is nicer than Sense in my opinion.

Does anyone tested the Samsung is it better than any other android and is the 4 inch the same size as the 4 inch of the xperia? (I will buy the Samsung if it is.)

I've used the Samsung Galaxy S for about 10 minutes? and was very impressed. On paper it has the best spec of any Android phone. But it doesn't have a trackball or notification led. It does have the fastest graphics, and joint fastest processor of any Android phone. The only Android phone with a bigger screen is the HTC Evo, but it's not as good in other ways.

Yes, 4" is the same size as 4".

There are a load of reviews and videos of the Samsung Galaxy S online - why not Google them?

Yeah but we're talking about the diagonal here so 4" is 4". If a 4" screen was taller, then it would also be less wide, conversely it were wider, it would also be shorter.

The Xperia X10 screen in portrait orientation is slightly taller and less wide than the Samsung Galaxy S screen, which in turn is slightly wider, and not quite as tall.

In landscape, the aspect ratio of the X10 is 1.78. The aspect ratio of the SGS is 1.67.

The X10 has 409920 pixels (854x480).

The SHS has 384000 pixels (800x480), but the screen looks a LOT better, and has a far superior graphics processor and touch screen technology to back it up.

Hey some people like retro stuff...

The emulator scene is buzzing for Sinclair Spectrum, Atatri ST and Amigas, even various 8-bit console emulators on Android.

HTC Desire or Nexus One are both good phones, 3.7" screens, latest Android version. They'll be nearly as much as a Samsung though. If you can't afford those and you must have a big screen then the Xperia X10...
