in xmen3 magneto never lost his powers at the end of the film when he's sitting next to the chess set you can see the pieces move without him touching it because the chess pieces were made out of metal.

You can see magneto can still move metal with his hanRAB.
 
Sorry to disappoint you, but you're hardly the first person to notice this. Did you catch the much more interesting scene that comes on after the credits?
 
What i believe to have happened, is that magneto did lose his powers, but the scene at the end showed he had some of his powers back, showing the potion was only temporary

well that's my theory
 
I agree with this aswell - surely the whole point of mutation is that it is the unknown, and so cannot be controlled.

Also, you might want to change the thread title as it's a bit of a spoiler.
