Xerox patent ruled invalid!

Did any of you notice the headlines? It stated that the court ruled that Xerox's patent on handwriting recognition is invalid, and therefore palmOne did not infringe on the patent with the Graffiti input method.

This is very welcome news for me. I liked Graffiti 1 more than Graffiti 2, even though I like being able to write on the screen. I hope with this new ruling, palmOne will create a rom update which will allow users to install Graffiti 1 on all Graffiti 2 devices.

I have no idea how this one slipped away from PTL, but Teal Script(TS) accomplishes the best of both. You can install G2 and change any of them individually back to the way you were used to in G1 or your own creation, still keeping the new ones that make sense. I love the choice, and yet still being able to do all the one-stroke letters like G1 had. It also has some shortcuts you can use like a one symbol for each ?and, the?, etc. however you want to configure it. And it does work in Flash, plus reloads automatically every time you Reset and/or crash.

It slipped away from me because I've had my own default library which I load in to any new TealScript upgrade. Unfortunately, I didn't start "customizing" letters with G2; I stared with the old G1 so I'm actually missing out on the "cross the t" multi stroke options of G2.

Oh well. The older single stroke T is faster - would be nice to have the "dot the i" one though, since vertical strokes are fast and I could have assigned that to something else, like "the."

Excellent observation!!
