Xbox 360 wireless headset problem?

I got a 360 wireless headset today and its been charging a little over an hour now but none of the four lights are flashing when its charging and when i unplug it and try to turn it on nothing happens.. Any suggestions on what else i should do?
 
Maybe the connection is bad in the internal wires. Sounds lime u knew what you were doing so it is not ur fault. Contact xbox people and tell them u want a new one for free
