Xbox 360 VGA with Turtle Beach Headset?

I've just recently purchased an OFFICIAL Xbox 360 VGA cable so I could hook my Xbox up to my monitor. I hooked everything up with no problems at all, but then when I plugged my Turtle Beach X1 Headset into the 3mm headphone jack (using adapters to turn Red and White Audio into 3mm) I only get audio threw the left earcup. But when I use standard computer speakers I receive audio threw both speakers. Could anyone please help me with this problem?
