Xbox 360 dvd drive flashing?

ok im looking into flashing my xbox 360 and i have a few questions.
I know microsoft dose routine checks but what if during those checks i stay offline and are there any good fourms that tell me these scan dates? and what if i use a diffrent hard drive and account for the burnt games and play offical ones online on my account?if ur not guna help DONT ANSWER thx.
 
Let me just tell you something and this is what I do.

Whenever I wanna play my burned games, I just unplug the Ethernet cable, when I wanna play online I just plug it.

Nothing has ever happened to me, ever. Don't use a different hard drive, just unplug the cable when you wanna play burned games, that's it, that's what I've done for a long time now.
