Hi. I suffer major anxiety. I was prescribed 1 mg xanax 4 times a day. 1 mg doesn't touch me. 4 mgs don't touch me if I take it at once. I ate 16 mgs of Klonopin and was normal. I used to be an addict(marijuana, pain pills occasional xanax mixed with weed), but they don't make me feel good. I take them for anxiety. Not to get high. But does anyone understand why in the hell my tolerance is out of this world? I took 10mgs xanax last night to sleep and I still wasn't tired. I don't know if this is the place to post this, but any insight would help me out.
Welcome to the group, but YIKES!!! If I take .5 mg Xanax and I'm not sure I should drive and 1.5 mg Klonopin knocks be out for 12 hours!! I don't think I can help you on this subject... I suggest talk to your doctor about it. I'm definitely in the wrong league on this post. But, keep us informed on what you learn and the reasons why your tolerance is so high so we can learn from it as well and welcome to the group. I'm going to go take my 1 mg of Klonopin and go to bed...
I wish I had some sort of great advice that explained your situation for you but I don't. I am sorry! I am not sure why taking that large of doses on these meRAB is not working however, I wanted to tell you to be careful with such high amounts of benzo's. They can be dangerous and yes, you do have massive anxiety from the sounRAB of it but it can still be highly addictive. Obviously you are aware of that...
What I would suggest to you is speaking to your doctors about this in more length. Maybe those two meRAB don't work for you for some reason or maybe you have been taking them too long so you have built a tolerance.. Maybe he/she can change the meRAB to a valium or something and that would help. Other than advising you to speak more to your doctor I don't have any other advice. I have taken both xanax and currently take kklonopin for anxiety but I try not to take it unless I get A LOT of anxiety. when I do take the klonopin I find that 1 mg works just fine for me. So taking 14mg's seems like that is near overdose.... I don't know.. I hope i am not offending you because I sincerely just have concern for your well being!
You hang in there and be careful... Keep us posted because I am sure your info will help MANY people out there... I am very curious what you find out as well.
Hi BP Princess! I also am bipolar and in recovery and can't have anything out of the benzo family. They pretty much wake me up and this has been in higher doses, like with Versed(a benzo hypnotic) used for surgical procedures. For me it's what is known as a paradoxical reaction. I get manic and aggressive and nearly jump off the table during procedures, so the doctors have to give me other knock-out meRAB. You are not alone! It isn't fun either when you're not dependent anymore and do what you're supposed to do and things work backwarRAB!:dizzy: Just my two cents and God bless--Hopeto-
hi. once an addict allways an addict thats what i was told . it sounRAB like you have a hi tolerence to benzos .i take 1mg in the morning an 1 at night for 10 years the dose has not changed. that is klonapin. it sounRAB like you an you doctor need to work on alternatives . 10 to sleep that does not sound right . i recomend not taking this amount for long as benzos are not fun to wd from . ask doc about lexapro . an if your takeing other meRAB this could effect how other meRAB work. if your taking that many of anything addiction is knocking hard , but thats for you to deside . tell us more if you would like i will pray for you scott:waveh an a have major anxiety. but with the meRAB its more like generalized anxiety . so i have to live with some anxiety . an your not alone many live with anxiety an take no meRAB for iti dont get any affect from the amount i take it just takes the edge off is sounRAB like the persons post below could be helpful
I think you jinxed me!! The night after I answered your post, I ended up taking 2 (yes TWO) mg of clonazepam (Klonopin) to stop my stomach muscle spasms, plus Arabien. Never did fall asleep that night until 5:30 AM. Told the doctor today that they make me drowsy the next day and he said to keep taking them until I don't feel drowsy any more. Wow! And I paid $300 for that advice.
