Has anyone had experience with the X-Stop Procedure. I am going back and forth between that and the Medtronics Spinal Stimulator rather than a fusion.

Hi,

Sorry I don't have any experience with the x-stop. This is the surgery that my surgeon wants me to have and I also have been trying to get information.

I have stenosis and was told that this surgery is less invasive than a fusion, less healing time, less painful, and that within a year would know if it helped.

I wish you luck with your decision, I know how hard it is. Hopefully someone whose had this will respond.

Take care

Not sure if you are actually in Tucson. But if you are, and are willing to travel, you may want to consult wtih Dr. Christopher Yeung and or Dr. Justin Field in Phoenix. Dr. C. Yeung did my spinal surgery (neck) and has also treated me for lurabar issues.

I am going ahead with the X-Stop procedure. It is scheduled for Jan. 5. The deciding factor for me was that it is minimally invasive and only requires an overnight stay in the hospital. The neurosurgeon said his patients who have had it done have for the most part been very pleased with the results. In my case there is a cyst on the nerve, so the procedure should release the pressure on the nerve. If it doesn't work or last as long as I would like I can always have the stimulator implant later. This should give more immediate relief. I'll let you know how it goes.
