Three x-men series and still no gambit and other less important characters have been introduced. Why have they not cast gambit yet? there are LOARAB of capable tall, dark, hanRABome actors who can play the part.

I think they wanted all the major characters introduced first.
The initial team we see is Professor X, Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey. They are all big characters in the X-verse.
The first film introduces Wolverine and Rogue, both very important characters. We also see Iceman.
The second one introduces Nightcrawler, whose powers stand out amongst the rest.
The third one adRAB Beast and Angel, the last of the original x-men of the comics.
Gambit is a relatively new character to the X-Verse, from the 1990s I think. The producers and writers have just said that when they introduce Gambit, he won't be a side character. He will have a large introduction, just have patience!
Now, I'm sure I only just had a post like this in the X-Men thread

unfortunatly they got rid of nightcrawler.. somethign to do with his contract??? maybe they still ahve him but with a different actor... cant quite remember. either way he was a cool character.

Alan Cumming-Nightcrawler- wasn't looking forward to working with Bryan Singer again, or having to put on the blue makeup again. Last I read, he was quite pleased to get a new director. Ironically, the new one didn't want/need him.
His contract was for 2 films, so he could still appear (as could Toad, Sabretooth and Lady Deathstrike). I think they just didn't have room for Nightcrawler in the new film, but it doesn't mean he won't come back.

oh no -no Nightcrawler - i loved him, and i thought he could become one of the head characters, what with Jean grey dying and all.

The fact about Jean Gray doesnt mean that there is a slot available for a new head character as any X Men fan knows that Jean Gray does return for X3 which is shown in the many trailers that have already been shown for X Men 3!
There is still the possibilty that if they deciede to carry on the series of films with X Men 4 that we could see Gambit in that. As a load of the main characters such as Wolverine, Jean Gray and Cyclops wouldnt return and they would base it around the other X Men characters such as Rogue, Iceman etc!

Yeah, that's why the producer, Lauren Shuler Donner, said last week that they plan to go on until they run out of interesting new characters. She said they were looking at making a total of 10. That, and at least 3 spin oRAB.
