Ok so i know it's a type of fish but i bought it accidentally b/c i thought it was sardines!! It's packaged in the same sardine cans and even the nutritional info is pretty much the same as for sardines. I bought it thinking it was sardines but now i go to eat it and the label says mackerel. Wtf. So is there a difference b/n mackerel and sardines? Does anyone know for sure?

There's not a big difference, except the taste. Use them in any dish. I like my sardines on saltine crackers, but would eat Mackerel if need be.

I'm sure you can eat them the same way you eat the sardines (on crackers, with rice, etc), but from experience, mackerel taste closer to tuna. They have a tuna-like flavor. I think they're pretty good! ... err but I'm vegetarian now so I'm speaking of PAST experience.
