Writing an article.......................?

I have to do this homework:

A magazine for students of English is planning a feature on friendship, and readers have been asked to send in articles describing the relationship that they have with one of their friends. You have decided to write an article. Describe your friendship, saying what it is about the person that you like.

Can I speak about friendship in general or I must write only about the person that I like (& describe the relationship).

Give me some ideas.
 
To write a really good article, start it with a general discussion of friendship, i.e. why we have friendships, the pros/cons of friendships...
Then in the body of the article you can use the relationship between one of your friends and yourself as an example of what friendships are "made up of."
Then make sure that your conclusions falls back to friendships in general.
Audiences like to have a generalization of information, but also an example, so they can build visuals on the subject at hand!
