So I'm writing a story about a disease originating from infant babies. It seems to start around the same time as babies are born, and the older you are the more susceptible you are to dying from it. Even so it is very contagious and very lethal. Newborn babies continue to carry and spread the disease and scientist and doctors are baffled at how to cure it.
I like this idea and want to run with it, but don't know too much about how diseases work. Does it sound like it could be a new strain of the flu, or would it fit something else? Any specifics on how a disease like this would work would be fantastic and much appreciated. Thank you!
