So I decided to replace the lower intake manifold gaskets on my 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, with the 3.1L V6 engine. OMG, this F*#$ing sux!! No wonder people call GM, General Moron! Ok, so this is less of a question I guess, and more venting to the world that doesn't care, but I can't believe how shitty a job it is. But its better than spending $700 for my mechanic to fix...barely.
Who else has had to do this BS?? And let me know how much "Fun" you had doing it, haha!

I've got a GMC Jimmy. It's been using literally 4 times the gas that my Ford Exploder uses. And I go through brakes like it's going outta style.

Hey, you bought it! Lesson learned?
I learned my lesson back in the early 70's. NO more GM for me! 35 years and not another one nor will there be. We currently own a Toyota, Honda, and Mercury and don't have problems.

Well I am a mechanic and I can tell you many cars are hard to work on we chose our field of work but don't have a say in how they make them. However that has changed. THE ASE and the automotive institute for mechanical engineers have started talking to the mechanics and asking what they can do to improve their car models, and guess what it's working. We all make suggestions on the problems we run into out if the field and the auto manufactures are actually listening. Here are some things I can tell you about. It used to be if an 02 sensor went out your car would be a pull toy you would have to have it towed to a shop because the car wouldn’t run, This was mandated by the EPA on emission items so now if a car has a problem the check engine light comes on the driver gets to drive it to a shop instead of leaving you out on the side of the road, I call that an improvement, also one car Had a 8 hour book time to replace the fuel pump so the mechanics suggested a way to put the pump up front where the tank did not have to be removed and guess what an 8 hour job turned out to be a 30 minute job. This is new and has been in effect since 2002 and it has made a lot of happy customers and mechanics. We don’t like getting yelled at anymore than anyone else. This is how the American automotive industry is making improvements, and many now get 100,000 plus miles in the 70’s they would be lucky to get 30,000 before blowing up, We do care and are working on it. But remember those that design the cars don’t have to work on them and that’s where you get into trouble. So with everyone working together and everyone making suggestions to improve the cars the customers are happy the mechanics are happy and the auto dealers are happy. We do care so do the manufactures you just don't here about it. and everyone wins.
