Wouldn't it be weird if there was a species out there that had three sexes where one produced the sperm, one produced the ovum, and the third carried the developing young?

Let's call these sexes x,y, and z, respectively. This would mean that z would have to have sex with both x and y in order for young to be produced, yet none of z's genetic material would be passed on. I think that would be interesting.

What sort of reproductive variation do you think would be interesting if it existed?
