K1500 LS? Its an extended cab, 4x4 z71 off road with long bed. It has the Vortec 5.3L V8 motor in it - (think it has overdrive-- its been a few years since Ive drove it and have to have it shipped to where we are now) ...
Anyways, was wondering if you would suggest putting hooker headers - or ?(what type)? headers on it ? Either way if so - or if not-- please state why and what the pros and cons would be??
This has been my truck since 2006 and Im thinking abt giving it to my husband since I have another car i just got .
He is always talking abt modifying something!! Sometimes makes no sense at all to me to do the things he would say he wanted to do.. ::
like: buying a new motor to drop in an early 90's, uncomfortable 2 door, mazda mx3- that barely fits his tall ass car
Which has over 250k miles on it, motor is still fine running strong but the interior is ragged and definitely needs a new paint job -( from desert sun discoloring most of the car) .. and it has minor issues like need a new power window control unit and struts.. I just dont see the sense in doing all that for the expenses / money that it would cost..... why change out something when its not broke -- and its not like its a sports car - or muscle car...!??!
See I've been around mechanics all my life and he just in the past 2 years starting working for the ARMY "learning" and doing mechanics... ...so there has been lots of times I have gave my input or disagreed to what he thought was the proper way - or how to do something-- or why you would or wouldnt want to .. and i have always proved to be right abt what i was saying... so now he tells me when he gets back next month he plans on putting hooker headers on it ....???!!??
To be honest - with our situation rt now , trying to clear up his past credit issues to be approved for a house loan and Im trying to save as much possible so when we do have to get that high interest rate.. we can do a 20% cash dn or at least know that we do have a little money to fall back on - or whatever ... Financially, I cannot understand what benefits would outweigh the costs of spending that much money on them headers? The truck would be driven daily at least 60 miles - back and forth to his work and lunch breaks... lots of stop and go traffic... and sometimes at 70mph highways... ...
It would be greatly appreciated if you could just give your opinion and what purpose and reason you would or wouldnt suggest doing that ... Thanks so much! !
