In 1982 TRON was made, and Disney refused to take direct part in it all though it was their computer company that made it, because they felt that hand drawing was the only way to go.
20 years later their hand drawing dept was closed to concentrate totaly on computer animation.
its called evolution. We've gone from puppets which look fake as hell (Yoda is a good example) to life like CGI
