Would you rather something be legal or just no law against it.?

I am talking about drugs, gay marriage, guns, etc. Would you rather there be a law stating that you can use that thing or do that thing or would you rather their be no law against it?
I actually don't really understand what the difference is myself...I just hear people talk all of the time about the petty things that are illegal and how they want them to be legalized. What a nanny state we are in!

I'm not sure what the difference is. If there is no law against something, then it is legal. You don't need a law to say that you *can* do something.

Something being legal and "just no law against it" are the same things. There are many things you do every day that are legal that are completely devoid of any laws. They are legal because there is no law against that activity.
