Everyone suggests coffee, or some other sit and down and eat type of social gathering! No wonder everyone is getting more calories then they need nowadays!

Is hiking really that boring? (don't get me wrong, I have friends who would rather run, walk, and hike, like me....but I am just curious)

:)

I would like a hike much better than a coffee whenever I can. I love to hike because itsso beautiful and natural. A coffee is just so artificial (no offence) Thats why i hike whenver I can.

Hoped I helped!

a hike, a much better way to bond and less awkward than sitting face to face with little to distract from

I guess it depends on how much time one has. I like coffee because I can wander away if I need to. On a hike, if I wandered away I might get lost!!

Hikes are definite time commitments. You need to go out somewhere to do it, then hike back when you want to get back. You probably need to shower afterwards.

Part of a comfortable social setting is being able to freely come and go.

Hiking is fun and no doubt the payoff is well worth the long hike (beautiful views, state park etc.) but people nowadays are into instant gratification and it's something you'll have to accept.

Coffee is simple and you can find a coffee shop on almost every street corner, also they offer more health-conscious caffeinated beverages nowadays.

Personally I think I'd like a hike, but you and I are a dying breed.

I think hiking is really fun as long as you are surrounded by friends and that are very socail and love you. Its easy to have a boring hike but it I think it would be great fun. It would be really great if you hiked with your gf/bf and went up to the top of a mountain or somthing to get a romantic veiw of a beautiful lake. But if you dont have the time to set somthing up like that, or find a place to hike you could always sit down and have a coffee. Hiking is more of an all-day sort of event.

sometimes it's too time consuming to get out of the city to go to a place to actually hike. by hiking I'm assuming out in nature. Hubby and I do a lot of walking in town.

Going for a cup of coffee is something that people can do at any time of the day.

Haven't really thought of hiking with a new friend as an activity before. Interesting idea. But getting a cup of coffee together you can actually watch their facial reactions better because you're focusing on each other more than you are while hiking. Hiking, you're also looking at the surrounding countryside and not always at each other.
