If they suggested it for like a year for transition (like instead of going to 1st grade going to Transitional 1st and then to 1st grade) because the child can not do some normal things (tying shoes, writing name, talking to the teachers etc...) would you do it? How about if they thought about putting the child into a special education class a couple hours a day or the entire day until they thought the child was doing better? I'm talking about young children around the pre-k to 1st grade range. I've just heard so many people I know say they wouldn't do it because they don't think their child needs the help. But in my opinion if my childs teacher thought they needed it I would (after of course I got second opinions from others) but I would do it if they thought it was best. Also, what if you refused to put the child into the special education and the school refused to allow your child to attend unless they were in that class. Would you try other schools (even in neighboring towns) or would you homeschool even if you know you don't have the time or training?
