Would you like to see the use of CGI in films to be a little more humble?

Would you like to see Hollywood go back to more practical effects - stop-motion, mattes, double exposure, puppets, animatronics, robotics and pyrotechnics?

I would and many others would. I don't mean like a total ban on CGI - I do like many tools and abilities with computers. But in some of these modern films, everything is CGI! Walls, roads, grass, trees, torches, people. Everything. 'Jurassic Park' was excellent - but since then, CGI has just gone down hill from there.

I say to use CGI and other techniques in harmonious balance, agree?

Stop motion? I'd like to not see that at all in modern movies.

Its a matter of work involved, and all of those are more work. It is known that they say "Time is money". And in the case of pyrotechnics, CGI is safer too. There is still a little bit here any there of other technologies, such as animatronics and stunt driving.

I admit, Jackie Chan is my hero for the fact that he's always done his own stunts. But he can't fight time, and as he ages his people are requiring him to have strings attached more often.

I personally enjoy modern CGI very much since it can pretty seamlessly blend with reality, allowing for more fantastic environments. Acting is the area that is worrying me though, because it seems that some actors just don't act well in CG environments. Well, I'm trying to give the benefit of the doubt at least, as it could outright be that acting itself is downhill.
