Would you give your neighbor $7,500 to buy a Chevy Volt?

In addition to all the bail-out money GM is getting, they are betting on the government (us taxpayers) providing a $7,500 per car "incentive" to Chevy Volt buyers.

I guess this is only marginally worse than the $3,000 they give you to buy a Japanese hybrid and put American workers on unemployment.
