Would you consider hiking the appalachian trail(2,175 miles) an "epic" journey/odyssey?

i want to be an adventure man.. survivorman.. im in college and plan on traking a semester off to hike the AT. in the future i want to do it all, mountain climb, skydive, mt everast etc
