Would you choose Jeep or Dodge?

So my Ford Explorer is costing me more than it was worth so I'm figuring on something new. Which one is best, Dodge Nitro or Jeep Patriot? I know very little about cars so I'm not sure - but I do love looks of those. If there both crap, I need 4WD SUV (semi good gas mileage, though know thats not likely)
