So at this gym I go to (in the middle of no where) everyone acts like they are training for the olympics or something, like they all take things way too seriously, and are very self-centered...I'm not used to this atmosphere in gyms. I'm used to the fact that in a gym there is an understanding everyone is there on the same par to work out, and paying the same fees, so there is some kind of respect. Anyway, in this gym people will do things like put a water bottle on a machine, so have a 15 minute conversation, do some sets on another machine, then come back and expect that no one should be able to use that machine they put the water bottle on during that whole time. Also, people will get off a machine, go walk away and get a drink, (mind you the water fountain is wayyy across the gym) and expect that the machine will be open for them when they get back like they own it. I've unknowingly thought "Oh, they left. They must be done" and gotton hostile attitudes from some guys when they came right back. This is a YMCA mind you, not like some body-building gym. It also puzzles me that people leave 100 pound disc weights on machines and then act like it's A-OK to do so. Mind you, Im only 130lbs, so moving 100lb disc weights off a machine that is about chest level/above is hard for me. And these men watch me or anyone else in there struggle and think nothing of the fact that they couldve moved the weights when they were done...
