That depends. If its an FC3S I would never buy it unless I knew for a fact it had a new engine in it. Living in California the emission standards here are strict and I know of only a handful of FC3S's that dont have any issues. Now if its an FD3S, I would take it. Unless you know what your looking at, take it to a Mazda dealership and have them check it out. Take this for example: You have a turbo FD3S. There's a rather young guy selling it. Chances are that he's raced it before. If there's modifications on it make sure that they're done the right way.
One more important thing. If for some reason it has an aftermarket computer in it, make sure that it was tuned by a certified tuner. Rotary engines have a knack for being very touchy to tuning....one wrong move and its boom!
