if sound waves could travel through space.. would we be able to hear our own sun burning ?

do you think we would be able to hear all the stars burning all the time.. and hear when they exploded into supernova and everything?

That's an interesting idea.

If the universe was permeated by a medium that could conduct sound (like a gas) but would not be pulled into the stars by gravity (the way a gas would, re-evacuating outer space), then yes, you could hear the stars.

Well, you could hear the Sun, at least. Since both light and sound obey the inverse-square law, the difference in sound intensity from the Sun and the other stars would be comparable to the difference in light intensity. The only difference is that the Sun would be almost as loud during the night.

I think it would sound like a steady rumble, especially if the high frequencies attenuated as they traveled through our magical gas medium.

1. Sound doesn't travel through space - no air.

2. The Sun doesn't burn (like a fire burns).

3. No problem - we WILL be able to see and hear if our Sun goes "into" supernova. Our ears and eyes and us will be vaporized.
