i have read books by the brontes which i love. iv also read some jane austen which i liked, though not as much as the bronte novels. i have an interest in 19th century writing in general. also, im in my early 20s and an english literature student.
would u reccomend i read books by george elliot considering my preferences that i stated above?
if so, which would u reccomend most highly or reccoment i read first??

also, if theres any other novels u reccomend i mignt enjoy based on what iv said please tell me.

i love young people who like the classics :)

elliot is wonderful - you could try reading adam bede, or silas marner. i would recomend silas marner first, as adam bede can be a bit heavy going.

the mill on the floss is quite good too, although it wasnt one of my favourites. middlemarch is amazing - but pretty dense sometimes. i would definately recomend reading some of her shorter works first. she's not really a romance writer, but she's very good.

i think you would like elliot. she doesn't write as flowery as the brontes, she write more like a man, quite similar in style to william makepeace thakery or nathaniel hawthorne.

some other books i think you might like

the age of innocence - edith wharton
the scarlett letter - nathaniel hawthorne
the portrait of a lady - henry james
the hunchback of notre dame - victor hugo
vanity fair - william makepeace thackeray
