Would this be too bold for me?

I am a ski racer (downhill) and am simply average. I never win races, but i never lose them either. I am working really hard on my technique and speed, and expect to become a little bit better this yeah but don't want to get my hopes up too high. Anyways i am in need of a new racin helmet and found one i just love from Shred and it is neon pink. Is there something about buying bold equiptment that makes people expect more from you? Please answer ASAP
