would this be a good enviornmental portrait for my photography class?

i had taken a picture with my sister practicing in the fron yard with all of her soccer equiptment and i was wondering if that was a good enviornmental portrait cause that was our assignment in photo leme no whatchu think =]
 
Where's the environmental message in that?

Soccer equipment?... that's not environment, that's sports.

You aren't even in the same ballpark with your photo.

What you describe is more of a sports shot

Environmental portraits just tend to be a straight portrait, shot outdoors in a pleasant setting instead of a studio, but all the lighting rules apply.

Key light, fill light, etc.

As you can see from the above link, it can also mean shooting the subject in their environment, usually working or relaxing.

I would avoid shooting your subject that could be mistaken for a sports, action or glamour shot.
