Would this affect me from receiving financial aid in the future?

On my first year of college, I received full financial benefits. I did very well my first year and was placed on the Dean's List and had my name entered in the local newspaper as an honers student. I was told I was going to receive a full scholarship for the next year and wouldn't need financial aid but I never really looked into that. So when I registered for classes, I found out the hard way that my scholarship for only for $500 and I needed to apply for Financial Aid again. But it was too late.

My guidance counselor mentioned that I would have to come up with the tuition myself so I could register for classes and fill out the FAFSA form. I will then be fully reimbursed with a personal check from the college within 1 1/2 - 2 months. So that is what I did. I payed for tuition and books, and would be expecting a reimbursement check soon.

Sadly, a month after classes started, my sister suddenly passed away. I went through a shocked depression period and just did not attend school. I did not contact my instructors or the college. Nobody tried to reach me either. I know I regret doing what I did, but it was a difficult time and I wasn't thinking clearly. I did not receive my FAFSA money because I dropped out of college.

That was about 6 years ago when I attended last. I'd like to go back to school and really get a degree this time. Because of that, I've been afraid to go back, fearing that I wouldn't be accepted for financial aid. I know if someone receives financial aid and drops of of school, breaking the agreement, they are not illegible for aid until they pay off the fafsa debt. I was thinking that was my case, but i just remembered that I actually paid for my classes and already took the hit. I technically never received fafsa so I do not owe them. Am I still eligible for fafsa?

Another thing, is that since I did not communicate with my school and with fafsa like I should have, I would have found out that there was a mistake made with my forms of payment. I apparently filled out some papers agreeing that if i don't receive financial benefits, then I'd be willing to take out a loan. They listed a group of banks and I needed to choose a lender. My bank was not on the list, so I chose just a random bank. I did not receive any more information from fafsa or any loan company after that. But what happened was, I dropped out of class and they immediately just took it to the bank. So i kinda paid for college twice. I do not owe the college at all but I do owe the bank and I'm currently making payment but it will take a long time to pay that off. But am I able to get fafsa again? Because technically I don't owe the school. But they will see me as a risk student.
