I currently own P185/65R15 tires on rims from my previous car and im wondering if they would work on my current mercury cougar. The stock size on my cougar is 215/50R16. I used one of the online calculators and the results came to this:
Original tire
Sidewall: 4.23 in
Radius: 12.23 in
Diameter: 24.46 in
Circumf: 76.86 in
Revs/mile: 824.38
New Tire
Sidewall: 4.73 in
Radius: 12.23 in
Diameter: 24.47 in
Circumf: 76.87 in
Revs/mile: 824.25
Speedometer reading with new tire is 0.02% too slow.
When your speedometer is reading 60mph you are actually traveling 60.01mph.
The diffence between the two are very minor and im considering installing my previous car's winter tires
Now im just wondering if im missing anything important, like if the smaller rims can handle the load and etc...
